How to attach two hog panels together? ›

We used the hog rings to attach the two cattle panels to each other. This is necessary to create a stable arch. Simply clamp the hog ring around two two pieces of panel and crimp the ring tight with the pliers. Install the rings every 6 to 8 inches along the arch overlap.

Hog panels or other welded wire, such as “no-climb” fencing, are secured in place using T-posts driven into the ground or larger cedar posts buried in the dirt. You can even secure them to plastic fence posts that just press into the earth, but such a system won't hold pigs for long.

Personally I have found cattle panels to be highly useful for larger goats while the hog panels are more suitable for kid goats (who can often squeeze through 6 by 6 squares on the larger cattle panels). Conversely, larger goats can (and often will) jump over the 3 foot high hog panels.

SOme horses will run into them, bending the panel.... But yes, I use them...and in 35 years of using them, 25% of them are bent - but not entirely by horses... They are just too handy to NOT use - instant pen!
